A Tale of Two Shoes

If these shoes could tell the story about their short three month life on the feet of a spirited little dude....I'm sure they would have many complaints about their care!!!

"HELP US...we've been worn by a toddler boy!!!"
"How exactly does this happen?!?!?"

"I hope he takes better care of us!!"

Our goal is to hopefully make it to summer when he can wear sandals and give these a break...THEY WILL NEED IT after having to keep up with him!!

Now please don't jump my kid to get your hands on his unmistakably cool sneakers....JUST ASK...he will gladly take them AND his socks off for you!!

A trip to see Grandpa and Grandma D

Mr. B and I went for a drive to Cedar Falls to spend an afternoon with my grandparents.

I will sit still for a minute so you can read to me

Now I will try to somersault over this ball

Look at ALL these toys

A cookie with a finger holder

Let me help you

You missed a spot right there

Take that garbage truck

This is how you pound on the door

Hey Mom....let's get a chair like this

I love these wonderful people

It's always nice to visit them and I think they say the same thing about seeing us!

Plumber B

Mr. B found this UNUSED plunger in the basement while I was doing laundry and WOULD NOT put it down....so it had to come upstairs for the morning!!

This helps me get the letters off the fridge....

....what else do you use this for?

Where is the problem, Mommy?

Who needs Mr. Rooter when we have our very own plumber in the house!!!

Reflection

About a month ago my sister flew home for an unexpected weekend trip. She and I were going to attend a funeral for the husband of her best friend. He was a loving family man that died tragically in a farming accident...leaving behind his young widow to raise their two boys and a child to be born in June without him.  They were just going about their day and in a matter of minutes their lives were forever changed.  It made me realize the petty things I complain about everyday are NOTHING in the grand scheme of life!!

The Mayonnaise Jar
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day is not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and two cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and fills it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “YES”.

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - God, family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions. Things, that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house, and car. The sand is everything else -- the small stuff.” he said.

“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “There is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are
important to you...” he told them.

“So... pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Worship with your family. Play with your children. Take your partner out to dinner. Spend time with good friends. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the dripping tap. Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled and said, “I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.”

I found this story on facebook the other day and knew that it was something I needed to take to heart. So tonight I'm going to give Mr. B extra hugs and kisses and make sure I tell my husband I love him more often. Every day I must make sure my "golf balls" are my top priority!!
